TRUSTEES
V. Uma, MSc (Math), MBA, Managing Trustee
Uma's dreams of creation of a self sufficient society.
She has been doing social service from her 8 th std.
While in college she formed a team, VISHAL RANGER, to do social service.
Her work has won her many awards, such as Governors Award (Raj Puraskar) 1990, Best NSS Volunteer (1992-1995), Special Award from Udhavum Ullangal, Vellore for organizing a blood donation camp, and Special Award from PAALAM, Chennai. In 1999, along with some friends, Uma founded Suyam.
As its full time worker, she does most of the ground work for Suyam (and Siragu)-including managing Suyam, formulating plans and activities for Suyam and implementing them.
She also runs the Suyam tuition center, 'Kanithalaya', for pre-degree and degree students.
At present, Uma is researching Wasteland Development as well.
R. N. Muthuram, M.Com, Trustee
Muthuram has been doing social service since he was thirteen.
He has been a part of Suyam, and also Siragu, since the beginning.
In addition to working as a Finance and Administration Manager with an architectural products company, Muthuram plays several roll in the organization and mainly looks after accounts, administration and personnel & act as a PRO, etc.
K. J. Prabhu, BE, Trustee
Prabhu has been a trustee with Suyam from the beginning. He has always fully supported Suyam's initiatives. Very supportive person and extend his support on all significant occasions.
Fracin S. Prabhu, BE, Trustee
Francin has been an active volunteer with Suyam since the beginning, and became a Trustee in 2003.
His ideas and suggestions helped Suyam grow. A significant suggestion was for Suyam and friends to adopt children rescued from child labour. This we have done in the case of a child-after we rescued him, when his father was trying to sell him.
Francin has a knack for identifying people to be assisted, volunteers and donors.
He and his entire family are very supportive and concerned about Suyam.
R.Jagannathan, Trustee
Jagan is a B.Com & DEIM graduate involved in social service for many years. He involved in
Running a tuition centre since 1997.
Nearly 1000 students in and around the village are benefited thru this.
Scholarships given to eligible and poor students.
Managed the school "Shri Vishwa Vidyashram" from 1999 - 2003.
Conducted various exhibitions based under extensive researches in vedic science, old literatures etc. in the school.
A lot of innovative methods have been introduced and well implemented in the academics side.
Conducted medical camps like blood donation camps, eye donation awareness camps, cataract camps, general medical camps etc.
Worked in as HR Executive Sinar Jernih, and have successfully recruited around 300 rural boys, in order to improve the living standard of those boys and their families.
Worked as Tamilnadu Coordinator for VSET - an NGO, and have travelled extensively all over Tamilnadu and almost covered all districts in a network for VSET.
Found a lot of Value beacons, who do something to this society, to show them as role models for the students.
Identified five schools in each district and had coordinated these schools with VSET.
Interested in Organic farms and had studied a lot about the farming methods. Believes in the traditional methods of farming, and also hopes that organic farming can bring a healthy society. |
